In a factory, deep
in the heart of Skokie, Illinois, is a business owned by Cary Green, where
little miracles are being made every day -- miracles with eyes and smiles.
These miracles are dolls that are personalized with the faces of real people.

Dolls & Bears were introduced in 1991, the brainchild of Cary and
his sister, Carol Conroy. A participant in an encounter group, Carol had
been given the assignment to bring in a doll that would be used as her
“inner child”.
At the time, Cary
owned a local printing company. He worked with clients every day to personalize
t-shirts, hats and mugs. Carol asked her brother to make a personalized
doll that included her own face, and soon, Baby Me® Photo Dolls &
Bears were born.
It wasn’t long
before Cary and Carol realized they had something truly special.

Dolls & Bears are popular gifts for special occasions, such as births,
weddings, anniversaries, and of course holidays, such as Mother’s
Day and Christmas. But they can also be a healing mechanism for people
experiencing loss.
“I’m
someone who believes that their work should do some good and more than
just make money,” Cary says. “These dolls make people feel
good. And that makes it all worthwhile”. |
